CAT 3054 Engine Specifications
The CAT 3054 Engine is a workhorse in the Caterpillar line of industrial diesel motors. Mostly used in small skid steers the CAT 3054 engine is currently in use in a variety of applications including Agriculture, Chippers, Grinders, Compactors, Rollers, Compressors, Cranes, Crushers, Forklifts, Harvesters, Hydraulic Pumps, Irrigation Equipment, Loaders, Mining, Earthmovers, Skidders, Sprayers, Trenchers and Landscaping Equipment. The simple design and straightforward technology allows low maintenance costs, very few operating issues and better performance when needed most. Caterpillar makes a CAT 3054B, CAT 3054C, CAT 3054E models, CAT 3054TA; all are naturally aspirated but can be adapted with a turbocharger if needed. CAT 3054c and CAT 3054E are the most popular engine models.
The Caterpillar 3054 engine is based off of a Perkins design. Perkins had been a supplier to Caterpillar since the mid 1970s and was purchased by Caterpillar in 1998 for $1.325 billion creating the world’s largest diesel engine manufacturing company. Today Caterpillar/Perkins build engines all over the world including the United States, United Kingdom, China, Brazil, India, Brazil and most notably Japan. Caterpillar also owns Mitsubishi Corporation and many Mitsubishi engines are found in Caterpillar products and are vertically identical to Caterpillar models. The CAT 3054 engine can honestly be said to be a hybrid of Caterpillar, Perkins and Mitsubishi engine technology.
Power is what is most sought after when purchasing an industrial engine and the CAT 3054 engine has more than enough to get the job done for various light duty applications. The CAT 3054 engine offers between 70-130 bph or brake horsepower at 2200-2400 rpm. The difference between brake horse power (bph) and horsepower (hp) is simply where the measurement is taken at within the engine. Brake Horse Power ratings are calculated at the flywheel and is determined to be the torque output at Skid Steer 3054the crankshaft of the engine. Horsepower (hp) is measured at the wheels of a vehicle and is typically 20-25% less hp than bph due to the loss of power in the drivetrain via the transmission and clutch. The 3054E is generally a little bit more powerful than the CAT 3054C model but are almost identical in design and functionality. The CAT 3054 meets Tier II EPA emissions regulations and has been grandfathered into the EPA Emissions guidelines set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency in 1994. Various diesel particulate filters (Selective Catalytic Reduction) and after exhaust scrubbers (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) can also be adapted for further emissions abatement.

Caterpillar 3054 Horsepower Rating Definitions:
Prime horsepower is defined as the speed capability of the engine which can be used for one hour followed by an hour of use at or below a continuous rating. Continuous horsepower is the speed and capability of the engine which can be used without interruption of the load or load cycle transferred.
The ratings are based on SAE J1995 standard operating conditions of 100 kPa (29.61 in Hg) at 77° F. These ratings also apply at the ISO/TR14396, standard conditions and to DIN6271 and BSS514 conditions of 100 kPa (81° F) at 30% relative humidity.
Our Remanufactured CAT 3054 Engines
The process for our remanufactured CAT 3054 engines is meticulous well beyond standards brought forth by the AERA. We only use O.E.M. parts and remanufactured our engines to O.E.M spec so the 3054 engine is in exact condition as it was the day it left the Caterpillar Factory. All engine cores are magnafluxed for cracks and wear before AERApurchase to ensure short lead times and exceptional quality. CAT 3054 engines are all machined in our 10,000 sq. ft reman engine facility in Denver, Colorado. We do not outsource or broker anything. From start to finish the Caterpillar 3054 engine is completed in-house with our own technicians. CAT 3054 engines come with remanufactured the camshaft, crankshaft, lifters, connecting rods, cylinder head, cylinder block and rocker arms. We don’t believe in wasting your time and will quote you an accurate lead time based upon our machine shop and engine shop backlog. Typically lead time is 2-3 weeks. We also have a large selection of good used running takeout CAT 3054 engines which have had the oil sample taken, dyno tested and run.
