Cummins Introduces Longer 3 Year Warranty On 6.7 L Engines

Powerhouse engine manufacturer Cummins Inc. has made public this week that it is introducing a complete comprehensive three-year warranty for its famous B Series 6.7 L diesel engine. The base level warranty covers the same comprehensive coverage for parts and labor on standard engine failures as the old warranty. It also covers some warrantable failures for the emissions after treatment systems. The warranty is unlimited miles but is only good in North America. In addition to the extended engine warranty, an additional towing and travel coverage has been increased from one to three years. The towing and travel coverage includes no deductible and consumables used in the repair will be billed at no charge. Customers can now purchase extended warranties up to 300,000 miles or 7 years if they choose at a much lower cost than before. ... read more »

Cummins Sued For $60 Million Over Faulty Emission Systems

Cummins is in some hot water recently as it was announced Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is suing the engine manufacturer for $60 million dollars. The basis of the lawsuit is in regards to the selective catalyst reduction system (SRC) on Dodge Ram 2013-2015 models. The Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resource Board have both come to the same conclusion that the SRC systems are defective and do not meet the current tier emission laws. ... read more »

The big news of the day in the trucking world came from the world’s largest engine manufacturer, Cummins Inc. The company unveiled their newest Heavy Duty Truck engine the: X15. The X15 is the newest engine in the much loved ISX product line. The X15 is the successor to the proven workhorse ISX15. The X15 is an upgrade to the ISX15 with an optimized compression ratio, air handling system and combustion process to deliver 25% better fuel economy and up to 30%-40% lower maintenance costs. This class-8 motor is only one of many new engines being developed by the big manufacturers such as Caterpillar, MTU, Paccar and Volvo. The remanufacturing industry came to a consensus this week in regards to the official terminology of what “remanufacturing” consists of as well as what constitutes a “core”. Six leading associations in the automotive sector met in Germany this week and reached a common understanding of basic definitions regarding the industry. The declaration helps define a common process everyone can benchmark their work and services. The move also helps raise awareness for remanufacturing worldwide and ties the industry in with the sustainability/green movement. The associations involved are: Motor & Equipment Remanufacturers Association, Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association, Automotive Parts Remanufacturers National Association, European Association of Automotive Suppliers, European Organization for the Engine Remanufacture and China Association of Automobile Manufactures.
